The study of drivers of land-uselland-cover change in the past has focused primarily on biophysical variables, such as elevation, slope, or soil type. However, it has been increasingly realized that data on socio-economic drivers of change have to be incorporated (Veldkamp and Lambin, ). · Introduction. Land use/land cover change (LU/LCC) has become part of the global science agenda (Lambin et al., ). It is driven by human activities (Teixeira, Teixeira, Marques, ) and is associated with negative impacts on ecosystems observed at local, regional and global scales (Girma Hassan, ).Cited by: · Study respondents identified urbanisation as the most important cause of land cover change. Other factors driving land cover changes reported included fuel wood harvesting and logging, agriculture, lack of forest guards, a lack of enforcement of laws on forest and annual www.doorway.ru by: 5.
Land use and land cover changes (LULCC) is the key topic in global change studies since they can alter regional and global climate through changing biophysical, biogeochemical, and biogeographical characteristics of the Earth system (Jain et al. ; Robinson et al. ; Xu et al. ). Understanding LULCC dynamics and drivers can help to better understand the LULCC processes and mechanisms to develop models and land policies for a country. With the understanding that driving forces of land use and land cover change interact in complex ways, two key underlying drivers of change will be given particular attention: (1) population, which determines the demand and pressure on land resources, and (2) climate, which affects the supply or constraints of land resources. Bangladesh has undergone dramatic land use and land cover changes (LULCC) in recent years, but no quantitative analysis of LULCC drivers at the national scale exists so far. Here, we quantified the drivers of major LULCC in combination with biophysical and socioeconomic observations at the sub-district level.

The Landsat images of the year Drivers of Land Use/Land Cover Change in the Guraferda District of Bench-Maji Zone, Southwestern Ethiopia. Belay Haile Gessese. Feb Since the economic reformation in China, land use has changed significantly, with various patterns and driving forces found at different spatial.
